I have called Hamilton home my entire life I recognize it as the traditional territories of Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas of the Credit. I am deeply committed to an ongoing process of learning and reconciliation efforts in the city and beyond. With this comes the acknowledgement that we must do more to learn about the rich history of this land and its peoples on our path to a better understanding of our roles as residents, neighbours, partners, and caretakers.

Today, the City of Hamilton is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Metis people from across Turtle Island (North America) and I am committed to a collaborative relationship rooted in honour and respect. May we all be guided by these principles as we navigate our personal and institutional relationships with one another.
